Broker's Comments

Yachting Monthly magazine has been around since 1906, when yacht cruising was beginning to be considered a sport in its own right. In 1927 Maurice Griffiths became editor (where he remained for 40 years) and it was during this time that the magazine sponsored a number of boat designs. These designs were intended to provide the home-build enthusiast with an inexpensive, shallow drafted and seaworthy craft.

In 1949 Alan Buchanan designed a 19ft Wild Duck sloop and YM published the plans. Most were built in plywood and didn't take long, for this one however, was a completely different story!

The original owner started building in 1979 and took meticulous care in how he did so. The build quality, materials used and attention to detail is incredible. He first launched her in 2016 but then age and health overtook him and she remained in the boatyard until found and refitted by her present owner. She's now very much in commission and sailing and, in my opinion, one of the loveliest little boats I've had the pleasure to list.

The videos below give a a little bit of her history and there is much more documented so please get in contact and ask
