Broker's Comments
A very nice example this Tela 16ft Dayboat has just been antifouled and polished it looks great.
The Tela is based on the 1911 Barry Docks Seeker, the little sister of the Bristol Channel pilot cutters. They were used primarily to ferry pilots out to incoming ships so they needed to be fast but also seaworthy; in later years they were also very successful racers. This modern GRP version has a centreboard and handles more like a small yacht than a dinghy. They are easy to handle single-handed but can also take 4 people with comfort; they are very stable with good performance in light breezes as well as the capability to handle well in a blow. They are also genuine trailer-sailer's that can be towed by most family cars.
This one has been owned from new by the current owner he tells us she sails very well, is easy to maintain and having such a low draft, with the keel up, is ideal for exploring the shallows and back waters. The tender is also worth a mention this is a 6ft Clinker Barrow Boat that can be sailed or rowed it has a single lateen sail; we are told it is fine as a tender for two people and would make an ideal first dinghy for a budding young sailor.
