Last weekend Paralympic gold medallist Helena Lucas officially launched RYA Push the Boat Out 2013 at the RYA Dinghy Show.

Push the Boat Out is a national weekend of sailing with events taking place all around the country. Last year the RYA invited British boaters to get out on the water to celebrate London 2012 and join in the fun of the Olympic Games. Across the UK clubs and centres hosted a day of Sail for Gold events and activities. This year sailing clubs will hold open days to invite local people to try sailing and windsurfing with a qualified instructor, and this time the event will be held over a weekend. Whether you’ve sailed before or are completely new to the water sailing clubs will welcome everyone who wants to get involved.

Sailing is one of the most accessible sports for people with a disability and one of Britain’s most successful Olympic medal winning sports. It can be an exciting action sport or a relaxing social experience, and children can begin at a very young age. Many sailing clubs offer training courses for both adults and children. After a family day out you could then unwind, take it easy and socialise at your local clubhouse.

You can search for your nearest sailing club at the RYA website.

This year’s RYA Push the Boat Out will take place over the weekend of 18th to 19th May. If you’re someone who already enjoys sailing you may like to look at the sail boats we have for sale here in Essex.
