Broker's Comments
Moody Yachts began as a family business repairing fishing boats on the River Hamble (Southampton, UK) in 1827. The founder, John Moody and his son began building sailing dinghies and from there in 1935 the first Moody yacht was built
The most prevalent period of production was at Marine Projects in Plymouth where the Moody 28 was designed as both a fin and bilge keeler, modelled on the very popular Moody 31 but just slightly smaller overall.
This particular example has had substantial investment over the last 10 years. Standing rigging, engine, keel bolts, windows, sails and batteries all replaced and she is ashore presently for engine service and antifoul.
Down below she is dry and fresh; there is some evidence of her age cosmetically but in general she appears well kept and equipped for coastal cruising.
She has an in-mast furling mainsail for ease of handling along with a Gennaker and cruising chute, a tidy Yanmar 20hp engine for when the wind drops which makes her, in my opinion, a good robust all-round cruising boat
