This Hunter 260 a trailerable cruisers that mixes performance with a comfortable interior.Ideal for a small family with many activities vying for limited vacation time. It is a boats that is easy to trailer, quick to rig and easy to sail.
A swing centre board that draws 6 feet when lowered and has a water ballast system that makes it ideal for towing by allowing you to add 2,000 pounds of displacement after launching. The displacement without the water ballast is 3,000 pounds, which is well within the towing capacity of most full-size cars and 4X4's.
It has a full-batten main and standard, 110-percent jib using halyards that led neatly back to the cockpit. There is a roller gear on the genoa and Lazy jack main for easy sail handling.
The 260 has a large cockpit and companion way, all the sheets come aft and are on two winches. It’s simple to rig and sail. Mille is a tiller steering version with a drop rudder that pulls up out of the way to allow you to the swim ladder
The fractional rig with its support struts is mounted in an easy-to-use tabernacle on deck. The raising and lowering can be done by one person but it’s a full days job, with two people its 3-4 hours. The raising and lowering system is a good design, safe and easy to use.
The boat has an enclosed heads with a sea toilet and a full galley with a single burner. The starboard side galley comes with a small sink, manual water system, gas stove. An insulated cooler located in a built-in locker serves as an icebox. The overall effect is attractive and airy, with a nice finish and well-chosen colours creating a welcoming space below.
A huge U-shaped dinette surrounds the cabin table, which converts into a double berth. Three opening ports and large windows provide light and ventilation. A V-berth in the bow has curtains for some privacy. The main double berth is aft. There is plenty of space for a couple or a family with two young children. The list of standard features goes on and on: full electrical system, hanging wet locker, recessed fuel tank locker in the cockpit, well-thought-out dish storage in the galley and positive flotation. The inventory includes PFDs, fire extinguishers and a blanket, Autohelm, VHF radio, depth and log, 4 x fenders and mooring warps, spray deck and Lazy jacks, (these are new 2017).
An outboard Yamaha 9-horsepower motor is swung from the stern. This engine is serviced and winterised every year. Last year it was stripped and all ports cleaned free of Salt. Like most yachts it’s not done a great deal of work over the years but lovingly maintained. Overall the yacht has been well cared for.
